Majorque à vélo pour les débutants

An achievable first-trip plan with easier bases, sensible routes, gearing and confidence-building advice.

Mallorca is not only for climbers

The north-coast plain and central lanes provide genuinely approachable cycling. The beginner mistake is copying an experienced rider's highlight reel rather than building a week around current fitness.

Port de Pollença and Alcúdia offer the best combination of rentals, simple navigation, flatter roads and routes that can be shortened.

Confidence before distance

Practise braking, bottle handling and looking behind before the trip. Choose conservative gearing and start eating before hunger appears. An e-bike is a valid way to equalise a mixed group—not a shortcut that removes the need for road skills.

Checklist pratique

  • Comfortable riding for two hours
  • Confident braking on descents
  • Know how to fix or manage a puncture
  • Use front and rear lights
  • Plan a turnaround point

A sensible five-day rhythm

Start with an equipment-check spin, follow with an easy inland ride, then take a beach or recovery day. Use the best forecast day for a moderate objective and finish with a relaxed route. Sa Calobra is not a beginner default: descending commits you to climbing back out.
